From the first wedding
that I planned in 1990, I knew I had found my niche. My best friend, the bride and I had little over two years to plan a “princess”
wedding on a strict budget. After realizing how much all the details were going to cost, we quickly learned how to account
for every dime and rethink some of our original ideas. In the end, everything worked out perfectly. This fantastic endeavor
turned into the most rewarding experience that I had ever encountered - experiencing the joy and happiness, that I helped
to create was an awesome feeling.
My expertise and organizational
skills earned trust to family, friends and co-workers. For over thirteen years, I planned and coordinated weddings and professional
events part-time. My full-time career was in mortgage banking. I worked as an underwriter, closer and corporate trainer. My
job was very demanding and my time limited. I was afraid that I would fall out of touch with the wedding world and possibly
lose focus of what truly made me happy.
In 2004, my husband
Joel and I decided to open our first business together, a disc jockey service. My husband has a degree in radio and television broadcasting and was a disc jockey many years back. Our plan allowed
me to acclimate with today’s brides and allowed him to get back into being a DJ at a comfortable pace. I learned quickly
who the modern bride is and what she is searching for. I left my corporate banking career to devote my time, talent and
services full time to couples and families, who want to enjoy their wedding day and rely on a professional consultant.
One of my greatest assets is time and people management which is essential for this business.
Today I am the President
of three very successful businesses, Groomes and Company Weddings, JC’s DJ Service and Everything Events, LLC. I have a vast array
of information and expertise to offer to my clients and colleagues. I enjoy sharing my successes and my “learning curves”
with those who are looking to pursue their dream of event planning. In other words, I've learned that I cannot do this job
alone. It takes experience, talent and a wonderful team of people along side of me.
I am an active volunteer and "Queen Bee" for the Queen For a Day foundation.
I spend my time at Detroit Children's Hospital and William Beaumont Royal Oak as well as being a Royal Writer for our
penpal program. Joel and I are advocates for The American Cancer Society and a Chairpersons for the Relay For Life
- Romeo. Joel is an volunteer for Romeo-Washington Senior Centers and Parks and Rec. Jennifer serves her community as
a Trustee for the Greater Romeo Washington Chamber of Commerce and as an advocate for Romeo Downtown Development Association
(DDA). See our Resources page for more information.
Joel and Jennifer are licensed Realtors in practice with Keller Williams Realty
- Lakeside Market Center. Jennifer is a commissioned notary public in the state of Michigan.

What is a "Professional Wedding Consultant"?
Many professional trades require proper licensure before
you can practice your service, this is not the case in the wedding industry. It has been proven however that
by obtaining an education and learning by experience demonstrates competency and devotion to your business.
The instruction process to become a Certified Professional
Wedding Consultant with an accredited school covers more than 30 different topics including budgeting, contract negotiation,
etiquette, multicultural and multi-faith issues, professional ethics and vendor selection. It also teaches you business
management, marketing and networking, skills that are so important in operating your own business.
By hiring a Professional Wedding Consultant you'll
get expert guidance and a trained professional. Would you hire an unlicensed physician, realtor or builder? Probably
not. So why would you hire an untrained wedding professional and take a chance with your hard earned money and precious
time for one of the most important events of your life?
I have completed a Professional Wedding Consultant
Certification Course and an Instructor Certification course through The Wedding Planning Institute - A Lovegevity Company.
You may contact me for class location, tuition information or general questions about becoming a Professional Wedding Consultant.
